Three very talented basketballers have just returned from the National Christian Schools Basketball Tournament, which was held on the Gold Coast, all having achieved great success.

Wohling sisters, Aimee and Nicole from Crystal Brook and Emily Wardle from Port Pirie are students at the Mid North Christian College and were chosen in the South Australian Christian Schools Association’s basket ball teams.

The trio was chosen from numerous players who tried out from all the Christian Schools in South Australia.

The girls have been training in Adelaide weekly since selections in March and it has been well worth their hard work leading in to the tournament, which was run from the 10th to 17th August.

Nicole, 14, played in the U/14 division and was runner up to Victoria and Emily, 15, who played in the Open Girls section was also runner up to Victoria.

However, Aimee, 16, who played in the U/16,s won the Grand Final against Victoria by one point, with two seconds on the clock.

Adding to the player’s achievements, Emily won an award for the most rebounds in the open section and was also chosen in the National All-star 5 team.

During the competition a team was chosen from the U/16 and open divisions to represent Australia in America and Aimee was asked to go, however she declined because of personal commitments.

The players collectively agreed that it was a fantastic experience and said that they made many new friendships from the teams competing, which came from South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

A highlight of their trip was the presentation, which was held at a private function at Seaworld.
